In 2019 Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ partnered with Online Programme Management (OPM) provider FutureLearn (formerly Interactive Pro) to support the launch of Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Online – the University’s flagship suite of wholly for learners globally. Following the expiry of the initial contract term and a subsequent competitive tender process, Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ has awarded a new long-term contract to FutureLearn.

This new long-term investment into online degrees solidifies Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ’s commitment to overcoming barriers to accessing a world-class education and continues its drive for excellence and innovation in online learning. Together the partners will expand and diversify Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ’s online education portfolio, strengthen the Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Online brand both nationally and internationally, explore new markets, and drive innovation through research and collaboration. Now with the stability of a much longer-term contract, Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Online will build on previous success, continue to enhance processes, and innovate in ways that will benefit the sector and deliver ambitious initiatives that will help to deliver Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ’s university strategy.

Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ’s Pro Vice-Chancellor Education, Professor Claire Turner, said: “I am delighted that we have awarded the contract to FutureLearn which will enable us to reach even more students via this online route who wouldn’t traditionally study with us. We look forward to developing more programmes in new areas with the Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Online brand.”

FutureLearn’s Vice-President of Degree Programmes, Peter Reed, said: “Our work with Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ has pushed the boundaries of online education and has clearly demonstrated the goal of overcoming barriers to accessing a world-class education. We are delighted to now look at a longer-term plan to support the University in becoming a stand-out leader in online education globally”.

Since 2019, Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Online has grown to eight fully online programmes across the College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (CHMLS) and the College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences (CEDPS), recruiting approximately 2,500 students in total.
