Silver and bronze for Amar
Congratulations to Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ’s Amar-Mazigh Aichoun who brought home his first silver and bronze medals when he represented Team GB at the Junior Para World Para Athletics championships.
Amar got silver in the 100m with a time of 11.95 seconds and bronze in the 200m with a time of 24.75 seconds.
Sports Scholar Amar is studying Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences (Human Performance). Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 13, he’s worked hard on his athletics training and overcoming physical setbacks to realise his athletic potential.
The 2016 Olympics inspired Amar to get classified to compete internationally. Last March, Amar went to Dubai to compete for Great Britain at the International Grand Prix competition camp where he won his 100m final race. Amar is now looking to compete in the Commonwealth Games next year in Australia and is training hard to make it to the abled body world championships in two years.
Amar said about winning his first international medals: “At first I was happy then sad that I didn't get to gold; knowing that I am the fastest junior. Coming back to the UK with two medals has given me the sweet taste of success, I feel really grateful and proud of my acheivments.”
