Careers and your future in Education

Our graduates are equipped with the knowledge to understand the transformative potential of education, and have the skills, experiences and attributes to use it as a force for social good.

Your education degree from Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ addresses the theory, policy and practice of education in, through and about, informal and formal educational contexts. It also equips you with a range of transferable skills including critical reflection, systematic analysis, communication, collaboration, presentation and writing skills, all of which are very attractive to employers and key to your success in future study. Our undergraduates and postgraduates go on to work in fields such as: counselling; educational psychology; teaching; social work; educational administration; and business and management.

Choosing Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ for your advanced studies leading to teaching? A Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ PGCE with recommendation for QTS is a recognised symbol of high-quality Initial Teacher Education, meaning, you’ll enter teaching with an excellent foundation for working with children and young people in a range of education settings. You'll also benefit from our partnerships with educational institutions and local schools. Many of our PGCE students go on to work in our partner schools and many more are employed in schools where they undertook a placement.

We also offer opportunities for further academic and professional development through our full-time and part-time doctoral research degrees (PhD and EdD), as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD), knowledge exchange activities and outreach, so we can continue to support you if you are interested in further study. Doctoral researchers often continue their career journey by going on to work as academics or senior leaders in a range of educational contexts.
