Professor Trevor Hoey
The challenges faced global societies in the 2020s and the coming decades necessarily require global solutions and co-operation. Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ is extremely well-placed to make a major contribution to addressing these challenges through educating future leaders and delivering policy-relevant and practical research.
Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ is already one of the world’s pre-eminent international universities, with exceptional global reach through our research, learning and teaching, staff and students, and our impact on society.
As 4th globally for our overall international outlook (THE International Outlook scores, 2024) and 74th in the Global Impact Ranking (THE Impact Rankings 2023) we play a leading international role across the full range of our activities.

Over a number of years, Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ has developed long-standing strategic partnerships with a number of research-intensive universities, funding bodies, government agencies, networks and businesses internationally, and has been ranked in the top 20 institutions globally for international outlook. These partnerships span all areas and the models range from TNE in China and Bahrain; to joint, seed-funded research collaboration with a highly ranked public university in Finland, international summer schools, PhD co-supervision, and knowledge exchange projects with universities in Ghana, South Africa and Zambia.
Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ is also very committed to its long-standing partnerships in India and Pakistan and has developed a number of schemes for staff and students to spend time at partner institutions to strengthen their research and training. We are proud to be one of the 23 high-ranked universities and members of YERUN (Young European Research Universities Network), and the first UK member of the Design Factory Global Network.
In order to support our students in becoming well-rounded and successful in their future careers, Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ offers a range of international student exchange opportunities to partner organisations in the USA, Latin America, China, Australia and Europe.
International Strategy
The University strategy aims to wield Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ's difference, and to propel the university to a new level as global leaders. We will do this through educating students on campus in Uxbridge, in our transnational education partner universities’ facilities and online. Our approach to global engagement is to collaborate with universities and other organisations that share our values and excel in their own fields.
We seek partnerships that bring mutual benefit, enhance inter-cultural understanding and generate sustained outcomes to benefit our students and staff. Innovation and creativity are encouraged in all of our activities, and we seek to provide opportunities for all to learn from our peers and collaborators worldwide.
