Journalism at Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ is far more than just sitting in lecture halls and libraries or reading books, we encourage you to get out there and find the stories yourself as you would if you were working in any top newsroom across the globe.
Whether you’re on our journalism undergraduate degree, postgraduate journalism course or the Journalism PhD programme, you’ll have the opportunity to take part and get involved in a number of engaging activities and events, both on and off our London campus, aimed around boosting your learning experience and promoting the links between literature and our local or wider community.
You’re never too far from big news corporations and networking events on or off our London campus, as you’ll be studying in the media capital of the UK. Being within easy reach of Central London is a big plus for you, especially if you’re considering work experience.
BBC Trafficked VR
BBC Innovation producers, Charlie Newland and Owain Rich, shared the new Virtual Reality experience they have been producing for the 100women event with our students.
The documentary “Trafficked” sees the user become ‘Maria’, a woman trafficked into sex slavery from Central America (Nicaragua) to Mexico, where she was held for eight years. Based on true events, Maria, and those involved in her rescue, were interviewed by journalist Lourdes Heredia.
"For those experiencing the VR documentary for the first time, it was a surreal experience. I felt like I really immersed in the story, I was the main character. I really lived her life”, said Hanna Liubakova, International Journalism MA student.

Off campus trips
Our London campus location allows us to organise trips to important institutions within journalism and the media like the BBC or BFI studios, giving you a unique understating of the inner workings in the industry. Even if it’s not on our scheduled trips if there’s a story there, we’ll support and encourage you to find it!
Sky Sports
Sky Sports partnered for the first time with Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ University and the NCTJ to help train our intake of Sky Content Academy graduates. It presented us with a unique challenge - how to deliver journalism training to a group of young peoples who are already full time employees. The flexible and innovative approach to teaching by the tutors at Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ has ensured the course has run smoothly.
Andy Thompson, Senior News Editor, Sky Sports.
International summer school
As a journalism student you’ll have the chance to take part in cultural exchanges, run by our wider college, to our partner universities abroad. These visits will help provide you with an opportunity to learn about the history, religion, politics, and economy of a particular country. In 2016 we visited China, in 2017 it was India, so will you be joining us next?
