The Research Data Management Service
The Research Data Management Service provides academic staff and research students with support and guidance in managing, archiving and publishing research data. The service is based within the Open Research and Rights team, Library Services.
The following support is provided:
Helpdesk
We respond to enquires or requests for assistance relating to the management, archiving or publishing of research data. Contact details can be found on our contact us page. Helpdesk requests will receive a response within 2 working days.
Training
Training is provided to doctoral researchers via the Graduate School 'Researcher Development Series programme. 'An introduction to research data management' is offered on a termly basis. More information and how to book can be found on the Graduate School school training and development for doctoral researchers page.
Data Management Planning
We provide a data management plan review service to researchers who are preparing grant proposals or planning unfunded research. Data management plans should, where possible, be submitted at least 5 working days before the grant submission deadline. Drafts can be sent to the Research Data Manager or created using DMPonline and shared with the Research Data Manager for comment.
The University data repository
is the University's research data repository. It should be used to archive and publish data that underpin publications or are of long-term value. Published data are assigned a digital object identifier (DOI) and a reuse licence which allow data to be cited and tracked. Light touch curation in the form of metadata and file formats checks will be undertaken by the team and recommendations made to optimise the discovery and reuse of your data.
