Remote Services

Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Library aims to make its services, collections and the information it provides accessible to all. Details of additional services and support available for specific user groups are listed below. Click and Post

This service is aimed solely at students who are working remotely and unable to come to campus. This service is unavailable to students living on campus. Please only use this service if you aren’t able to visit the Library in person and there is no e-book available. Always check the Library website before placing your request.

This service allows you to request books up to your borrowing limit. However, you may only request 3 books per request form. The service is restricted to UK addresses only. We will post books to you free of charge.

Requesting a postal loan

Search the  for the book(s) you need.

Items eligible for reservation will appear with a Click and Collect button and a Click and Post button alongside them.

The Click and Post button takes you to the . On this form, you will need to note the author, title, edition, publication year, call number and status for each book.

Requests are actioned during our opening hours and we will aim to post out the book(s) to you within 3 working days. You will be emailed when the books have been dispatched and will require a signature on delivery.

Your books will be checked out to your account for 4 weeks and will automatically renew for another 4 weeks a further 6 times (i.e. 28 weeks in total) unless they have been reserved by another user.

Returning a postal loan

If you receive an email informing you that your book(s) have been recalled, you must return them by the new recall due date on the email. If they are not returned, recall overdue charges will apply. You can log in to the Library catalogue and select ‘My account’ to check the due dates.

You are responsible for returning your library books, however if you are still unable to return them in person the link to the free return service is in the “Item(s) on their way” email we sent you. If you do not have this please email the Library and we will send you instructions.

Scan and Send

Do you need a chapter or article from print books or journals in the Library for personal study or research? Let us know as we might be able to Scan and Send it directly to you by email.

Please be advised that this service is not applicable for titles that appear on your reading lists; if you require material that appears on your reading list, please contact your Academic Liaison Librarian instead.

Request

  • A chapter or page range: one chapter is permitted but larger sections may be scanned depending on the copyright of the book requested. We can check what is allowed for you.
  • One article per journal issue.

Remember

  • Use Library Search to make sure we don’t have an e-version already
  • If you need to request items not currently held by the Library then please go to Interlibrary loans.
  • If it is material on your reading list contact your Academic Liaison Librarian instead.

Freepost Returns

Step 1: Generate a free post label

  • go to
  • type in your Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ email address ......@brunel.ac.uk, click submit
  • either open the popup to view your label or check your emails for an email from Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ <noreply@clicksit.com> use the link provided to view the label. 

Step 2: Generate a free post label

  • print out the label
  • package the book correctly max 10kg dimensions 50x50x60cm. (If the books you want to return exceed the 10kg weight limit, please repeat step 1 and 2 to generate a second label and parcel to send).

Step 3: Posting the package

  • locate your nearest collect+ collection point. Go to  or click the store locatior link in the email, search by postcode or place to find closest collection point.
  • take your parcel complete with label attached to your nearest collection+ collection point.
  • Get a receipt and use the tracking number provided to track your parcel or use the track button in the email received.
