Summary

Dr Helen Ives is a Senior Lecturer in Sport Health and Exercise Sciences (Pedagogy and Youth Sport). Her research focuses on how physical education and school sport is a political area of interest with the aim of engaging with young people to become physically literate and active. Dr Ives is specifically interested in how physical education and youth sport is socially constructed through Government ideology, policy and strategy and 'used' by schools, clubs, coaches and volunteers to delivery outcomes and performance indicators through the receipt of funding/investment. She is also interested in the role of agents/agencies and teachers in this process. Her work focuses on applying social constructionism to explore these issues.
