Summary
Hi there
I am the module lead on the CM3604-CM5602 module - Managing Professional Perspectives in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN): Occupational Health (OH) pathway.
I am passionate about work and health. Evidence shows that being employed reduces health inequalities and that good work is better for an individual's health than being out of work. Public Health England (PHE) replaced by UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and Office for Health Improvement and Disparities in 2020, describe good work as "having not only a work environment that is safe, but also having a sense of security, autonomy, good line management and communication within an organisation".
Support from OH enables keeping people well at work physically and mentally. The support considers all aspects of health and safety within the workplace, focusing on primary prevention of hazards.
Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ OH students are on a 50% university and 50% practice placement. The placement areas are within many business sectors including the NHS, transport (air, road and rail), telecommunications, construction, education and energy demonstrating the importance of OH support for people at work. The students bring and share invaluable knowledge to the university and co-students.
