Our impact

Our research focuses on issues of societal and political relevance and we aim to generate impact on social and cultural policy and practice. Much of our research is undertaken in close collaboration with non-academic partners, who are often involved in the co-design of our projects.

We have partnered directly with a host of wide-ranging organisations and activist groups in undertaking research. These include national and local government (for example the Cabinet Office's Race Disparity Unit); international and local NGOs and charities; cultural bodies (the BFI, European city museums, comedy festivals, community arts organisations); industry bodies (e.g. PlasticsEurope); education bodies (including Lesotho’s teacher training institutions); and newspapers (the Guardian).

A much larger range of organisations have made use of our research. These include:

  • Facebook
  • Plan International
  • City of London Corporation
  • 10 Downing Street
  • Government Equalities Office
  • House of Lords Communications Committee
  • Department of Culture, Media and Sport
  • Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
  • Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy
  • Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
  • Commonwealth Secretariat
  • British Council
  • European Parliament
  • US Department of Agriculture
  • US Food and Drug Administration
