Social Programme
Learning at Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Language Centre goes beyond tests and hard work. We appreciate the value that activities outside the classroom can bring. Both within the Language Centre and the University as a whole, we encourage our students to get involved with events and activities not directly related to their studies.
On campus, every week we hold at least one social event and one sports event. Each month we run two day trips off campus, heading to places like Windsor Castle and the beaches of Brighton.
The Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Language Centre Social Programme is mostly free. We do not charge our students for tickets and refreshments we buy or fares of coach we arrange for. This is all free. However, when using public transport, for example, in the case of a London tour, students will pay their own fares to use the Tube (Underground) or bus. Additionally, students will be responsible for paying for any food and drinks or any extra activities or tickets they may wish to buy on the day of an event or trip. For costs of refreshments and optional extra activities see: . For Travel costs to and from London, please see: and . Please do check what we are offering for free before booking any optional extra activities.
Online, every week we hold at least one social event. Examples of online events are: quizzes, singalongs, guest speakers, such as stars from the musicals, virtual visits, such as Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and great fun interactive online parties.
Sometimes we collaborate with our colleagues in Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ Pathway College or the main University and hold joint events, giving you the chance to meet new people.

I am particularly interested in academic theory relating to educational technology and its practical applications in the classroom. It’s really motivating as a teacher to see students come here and make such great progress towards their goals.”

She obtained her Cambridge DELTA English Language teaching qualification in 2010.
Alison says "Teaching at Ã÷ÐÇ°ËØÔ for more than eleven and a half years has enabled me to work with a wide range of students. My particular focus has been centred on the delivery of in-sessional Academic Writing courses, which are directed towards the assignment writing requirements of specific postgraduate courses. I believe that by familiarising myself with students' writing requirements and tailoring lesson activities around them, I can ensure learners receive the necessary guidance and skills support to respond to their assignments effectively."
Andrew Harrison - English for Academic Purposes Tutor
Andrew graduated from University College London (UCL) with a B.A. Degree in Russian Studies in 2006. He subsequently completed his initial teaching training and taught at a number of institutions in Saudi Arabia, including King Saud University (KSU) and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA). Andrew says “Having studied a foreign language abroad as part of my degree, I understand the challenges that students face and I take great satisfaction in seeing the progress they make on our courses. One of my main areas of interest is integrating technology into language learning as I believe this can be used to enable independent study and develop critical thinking skills, which are very important for success.”
