Summary

Dr. Amanda Ager is a Physiotherapy Lecturer and Researcher, focusing on proprioception, upper limb function and rehabilitation, with an emphasis on developing clinically accessible tools to assess and improve upper limb proprioception. She is also interested in exploring the link between the gut microbiome and rheumatic, musculoskeletal and inflammatory conditions (the gut-joint axis). Amanda completed her doctorate at Ghent University in Belgium.

She has held leadership roles, including Vice-Chair and Chair of the Global Health Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, and served as a Physiotherapy Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, where she managed rehabilitative care in challenging environments. Amanda's leadership, mentorship, and contributions to the rehabilitation community reflect her commitment to advancing the profession.

Amanda is passionate about teaching and mentoring students at the BSc and MSc levels, guiding them through their studies and research projects. She is dedicated to creating a learning environment that empowers students to excel, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in both clinical physiotherapy practice and research.
